WORKING TO BUILD A FUTURE WHERE PEOPLE LIVE IN HARMONY WITH NATURE.
- Looking after our ocean
- Protecting special marine species
- Promoting community conservation and education
Aotearoa New Zealand has incredible wildlife and wild places - and we want to make sure it stays that way.
WWF-New Zealand exists to protect Aotearoa New Zealand's precious native species and ecosystems (and the world's!).
Part of WWF's global conservation network, working to stop the destruction of our planet's natural environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature. We’ve been working in New Zealand since 1975 and are a registered charity (Charity number: CC33788).
Because New Zealand has one of the largest marine environments in the world, one that is home to more than 80% of our indigenous biodiversity, the majority of WWF-New Zealand’s projects focus on marine issues. Working to protect and restore our ocean, save taonga (precious) species from extinction and make fishing more sustainable.
WWF-New Zealand also wants to inspire and enable New Zealanders to care for their habitats and species as part of a healthier society and economy. To help them rise to the global challenge of how to live sustainably today, without compromising quality of life for future generations.
More information on our work can be found on the WWF New Zealand website.
