Uwe Seeler was regarded as one of the best middle forwarders in the world. Born in Hamburg, Seeler was already very committed, not only on but also off the pitch. It was important to him "to help those who are dependent on the help of others due to their physical, mental or spiritual condition". Above all, he attached great importance to supporting children and people with disabilities "who have a particularly difficult position in our achievement-oriented society and often find little recognition and acceptance". In 1996 he founded the Uwe-Seeler-Foundation. The Uwe-Seeler-Foundation supports people in need in various areas. Among other things, it offers them help to make a living. In the year 2015, for example, it was able to help families in need with more than 180,000 Euros and to cover repair costs.
