Winner Lucas meets triathlon legend Jan Frodeno in Girona and receives his original Canyon bike.
At the SGRAIL100 on 22.10.23 in Girona, the time had finally come: Winner Lucas and his girlfriend Anneleen from Belgium were able to meet triathlon legend Jan Frodeno in person in Girona. There, Lucas was personally presented with the original Canyon Speedmax CFR bike from Jan's US Open victory in 2023.
The winners set off on 21.10.23 for Girona, a beautiful city in the north-east of Spain. There, the two were greeted with bright sunshine. The first morning started with a great brunch and then they went to the event location at 1pm.
The SGRAIL100 is a triathlon with gravel bikes, in which big names from the triathlon world participate. Among them was Jan Frodeno, who was already on the race course when the two arrived. Besides Jan, many of his friends also took part in the race, such as professional cyclist Greg Van Avermaet, who was also crowned the winner of the SRGRAIL100.
As exclusive VIP guests, Lucas and his girlfriend were offered free food and drinks on site, which they enjoyed in the Spanish sun until Jan Frodeno reached the finish line with his wife Emma to thunderous applause.
After a short breather, the time had finally come. Lucas received the Canyon bike that Jan rode in his US Open victory in Milwaukee in 2023 from the triathlon GOAT himself. An unforgettable moment for Lucas, who still couldn't believe that this beautiful "rocket" now actually belonged to him.
Besides the handover, Lucas was able to ask Jan all his questions and great souvenir photos were taken, which will certainly have a place of honour with Lucas.
The bike will soon be delivered to Lucas' doorstep in Belgium and he can look forward to his first ride on this spectacular bike.
For the triathlete Lucas, this experience in Girona was an absolute dream come true. Thanks to his donation to the Frodeno Fun(d), he was not only able to meet his idol Jan in person, but also received this special bike, which he hopes to be able to use for his own triathlon soon.
In total, over 103,120 euros in net donations were collected for the Frodeno Fun(d). This will make it possible to secure the next two years to initiate new projects for children, maintain bikes, keep the pumptrack in Girona, finance staff and much more.
